Hi. I wrote this for you because I want you to know something:
I don't care if you're a man, woman, young, old, gay, straight, black, white, brown, red or yellow, short, tall, fat, skinny, rich or poor... Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Agnostic or an Atheist...
I respect you.
...Not because you're famous, or smart, or influential or powerful.
I respect you because you are a human being.
People might put you down or make life difficult for you because you're not like them. Because you are different. I have to say, I've been guilty of the same crime once or twice. I apologize for my arrogance. And even more so, for my ignorance. I suppose it's simply human nature... to be scared of what we do not understand. But, still... that does not make it right.
Who am I to say that you're weak, and I'm strong?
Who am I to say that you're weak, and I'm strong?
Who am I to say that I'm right and you're wrong?
Who am I to say that you're unclean, or sick, or cursed?
Who am I to say that I am better than you in any way?
Calling you a sinner does not make me holy.
Calling you ignorant does not make me wise.
Yes, we are different, but that is not reason enough to hate. If anything, it's all the more reason for me to want to get to know you...to understand what it's like to be you. And I hope you'd want to get to know me a little bit more too.
As long as we are living a life that does not cause any harm or pain to anyone else, then we should be free to live it and live it fully.
I respect you, and your freedom to be whoever, whatever you want to be. I honor both our differences and our common grounds... because you are unique, and so am I...
And that is a good thing.
